Ernie and I have felt a change within the school over the past 2 years. Our vision has become clearer, we have relied on our core values to help us make decisions, and we have taken chances to build a culture that embodies the values we believe are most important. We have seen our children’s program outgrow our curriculum as well as our mats. We developed an advanced track to meet the needs of our students both physically and mentally. Our Sheepdogs program not only pushes our students to develop their technique, but become role models, leaders, and protectors of our student body. Through cross training and expert instruction, we have grown a striking program for our children and adults that will soon lead to a fight team. Our students have developed respect, composure, and mental fortitude both “in the ring” and out. Jorge has created a team dynamic of support, and desire to win obvious in the confidence and determination of his students. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program has brought us an entire team of colleagues to help develop our ground game, tactics, and competitive spirit. Tony’s high standards of instruction and methodical teaching practices have given us a solid foundation in BJJ that allows for more confident, and thoughtful grappling among our students. Jasen brings an added perspective of BJJ with a solid respect for versatility in movement and occasional infliction of knee on belly punishment. Students have grown into instructors, strangers have become community leaders, and Ernie and I have developed into CEO’s planning a future for our business, our students, and our legacy. We have grown because of need, necessity, and challenges. Our teaching cadre has grown to include Noah, Molly, Pete, Doc, Joann, Liam, and now Curt as not only a Krav coach, but our newest BJJ coach. These changes were the result of instructors and students alike stepping out of their comfort zones, overcoming obstacles, and hardships, and becoming something great. Something bigger than they are individually. Together we have all become a standard. At its core, the wolf and dagger embodies themes of strength, resilience, and survival instincts. The wolf, with its predatory prowess and pack mentality, epitomizes the relentless pursuit of goals. It also represents the unwavering resolve to overcome adversity. When paired with the dagger, which is a symbol of protection and defense, it signifies an indomitable spirit and the readiness to confront life’s challenges head-on. In many interpretations, the wolf and dagger symbolizes loyalty, camaraderie, and the bonds of brotherhood. Individuals may choose this design to honor their allegiance to friends, family, or fellow warriors. The dagger signifies a shared commitment to mutual protection. It also signifies trust, and unity in the face of external threats. Most importantly the wolf and dagger is a symbol of overcoming hardships. The person wearing this symbol has overcome hardship, as well as made a promise to themselves that they will never be defeated by personal struggles. This is the promise of Kirk’s. The Kirk’s community is built on overcoming adversity. We are fighters. We don’t give up. We are far from perfect but we will give you everything we have, everytime. We believe it is better so go down swinging, then to never even try. We fight our battles, we don’t run. We strive for our personal best, not be great, but to lift everyone around us to greatness.
